Sarah Del Borrello | Mother Mother Doula
I provide professional birth photography for families from Perth to Mandurah, documenting your birth story with honesty and love.
Birth photography is about remembering what it felt like. The anticipation, the intensity, the calm, and the love. It’s about capturing every detail you might not have noticed, or otherwise might forget. Like the way your partner looked at you in awe, the water rippling against your belly in the birth pool, or your baby’s very first breath.
These images tell the story of your strength and transformation. They give you a visual timeline of what unfolded because in the moment, time blurs. When you look back, you’ll see yourself as you were: powerful, capable, and deeply connected.
Whether you’re birthing at home, a birth centre, or hospital, my role is to document your story quietly and respectfully, preserving every moment that makes it yours.
Storytelling Birth Photography
Capturing the fleeting moments, emotion, and strength in between.
As your birth photographer, I take a “fly on the wall” approach, blending into your space so you can stay immersed in your birth. I move quietly, use natural light where possible, and capture moments as they happen rather than directing or interrupting.
My focus is always on you. Your birth, your expressions, your connection with your baby and your experience. From the rhythmic waves of labour to snuggling up in bed after birth, I document your story with care, quiet presence, and an eye for detail. Capturing the fleeting moments, the emotion, and the strength in between it all.
If you’ve booked me as your doula as well, my role naturally shifts to balance hands-on support with documentation, ensuring your care always comes first.
What to expect during birth
Collaboration and Respect
I work respectfully alongside your midwives, doctors, and support team to maintain a calm, cooperative environment. My doula background helps me anticipate the flow of birth and move in sync with your care team allowing me to blend in to the background.
On your terms
Before your birth, we’ll talk about what matters most to you such as must-have moments, elements you don’t want photographed, and specific preferences or certain details you’d like edited out later.
During birth, I check in gently if needed and always follow your lead. Your comfort and consent guide everything I document.
Settling into your space
When I arrive, I take a quiet moment to settle in, connect with your birth team, and make sure you feel comfortable with my presence. I don’t start photographing straight away; I wait until I sense that you’re relaxed and feeling safe. Once you’re at ease, I begin documenting what’s unfolding with care and respect for your rhythm.
Quiet Observation and Presence
Throughout labour and birth, I move quietly and intentionally, observing and capturing moments as they happen. I focus on your story, preserving the connection, emotion, and energy of your birth, without interrupting. My goal is for you to stay fully immersed in your experience while I document the moments that matter most.
The First Hours Earthside
Once your baby is born, I stay for the first couple of hours to document your ‘golden hours’. The early bonding, skin-to-skin, feeding, weighing, and the quiet moments in-between.

What It Includes:
01
Enquire
Start by submitting an enquiry via the contact form below. I’ll be in touch within two business days to confirm availability and answer any initial questions.
02
Connect
We’ll schedule a phone, video call, or in-person consult to talk about your birth plans, photography preferences, and how I work. This is also a chance to make sure we’re a good fit and that you feel completely comfortable inviting me into your birth space.
03
confirm
Once you’re ready to move forward, I’ll send your agreement and booking form. Your place is secured with a 20% non-refundable retainer, and the remaining balance is due at 35 weeks. From there, you’re officially in my calendar and I’ll be on call from 38 weeks until your birth.
As your birth photography I endeavour to be as unimposing as possible, a bit like a ‘fly on the wall’. My role is to capture your story as it unfolds, with minimal to no interference. Some of my clients have said they didn’t even notice me documenting their birth.
Generally you should get in touch as soon as you know you want a photographer. I only take 1-2 clients each month to ensure my availability so spaces are limited. Your booking is not confirmed until you have signed your contract and paid your deposit.
To confirm your booking I require a signed contract and a 20% non-refundable deposit.
I accept homebirth clients between Mandurah and Perth, and service clients birthing in hospital at Armadale Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, King Edward Memorial Hospital, Peel Health Campus, Rockingham General Hospital, St John of God Murdoch Hospital and Family Birth Centre at King Edward Memorial Hospital.
I can service hospital births outside of these, but may need to charge an additional travel fee.
You will receive several sneak peek photos within 48 hours of your birth. You will have your final birth gallery within a maximum of 6 weeks, but my turn around time is usually closer to 2-3 weeks.
Birth photography is increasing in popularity and most hospitals are comfortable having a photographer in the room. Mutual admiration and respect means that your birthing team and photographer interact in a way that makes the most of your experience. It’s good practice to inform your care provider during your pregnancy, and to have your Photographer listed as a birth support person.
Generally speaking, a Photographer will not be permitted into theatre in the case of an in labour/emergency caesarean section.
Yep! As long as full payment is made by 35 weeks you can pay in as many interest free instalments as you like. In special circumstances you can even continue to make payments after your baby is born. Although you wont receive your images until full payment is received.
I will be there. No matter the day or time, once you have booked with me I have committed to being on call for you 24/7 in the weeks surrounding your estimated due date. Things like peak hour or holiday traffic may mean it takes me longer than expected to reach you, but I will get there no matter what!
If you’re birthing in hospital I generally meet you there shortly after you arrive. If you’re having an induction you should phone me when it starts, and ask me to head in once you are in active labour. If you’re birthing at home I’ll arrive once you’re surges/contractions are well established and you’re in active labour. Its important I don’t arrive too early as this can cause disruption and slow or stall your labour, and may mean that by the time you are birthing I am not working at my best. I will generally stay for 1-2 hours after your birth to capture your magical golden hour. If you’d like newborn or family photos another day, these can be accessed at 10% off.
If reasons beyond my control mean that I cannot attend your birth you will have a back up photographer replace me. I will complete the post-production editing process to ensure the final images are so aligned to my portfolio as possible.
Have I missed something? Complete my contact form below and I’ll respond to your question within 24 hours.
