These Terms & Conditions apply to the hire of birth pools and associated equipment (“Hire Equipment”) from Mother Co Pty Ltd, trading as Mother Mother Doula (“we”, “us”, “our”). By booking a hire, you (“the Hirer”, “you”, “your”) agree to these Terms.
1. Hire Packages & Pricing
- Regular Pool Hire: $350 hire fee + $150 refundable bond
- Mini Pool Hire: $300 hire fee + $150 refundable bond
- Bond Refund: Returned within 10 business days if all Hire Equipment is returned on time clean, dry, complete, and undamaged.
What’s Included in Every Hire Kit
- Birth pool of choice (Regular or Mini, Pool in a Box – Pro)
- 1 × single-use pool liner (required for hygiene)
- 1 × small air pump (to inflate pool)
- 1 × submersible draining pump (to empty pool)
- 3 × generic tap adapters
- 1 × puncture repair kit
- Disinfectant wipes for post-use cleaning
- Instruction sheet & equipment checklist
Optional Add-On’s (NOT INCLUDED IN HIRE)
- Food-Grade Drinking Hose (10 meters) – $50 (new, yours to keep)
- My Anchor Strap – $30 (new, yours to keep)
- Additional Weeks – $50 per week (subject to availability)
- Local Delivery & Collection – available on request, subject to availability and quoted individually
2. Hire Period
- The standard hire period is 28–36 days (5 weeks).
- The hire period is recommended from 37 weeks gestation, until approximately 42 weeks gestation.
- Extensions must be arranged in advance and are subject to availability and an additional fee of $50 per week.
- Early return does not entitle you to a partial refund.
3. Bond, Refunds & Fees
- A $150 bond is required for all hires.
- The bond will be refunded within 10 business days of return if all Hire Equipment is:
- Returned complete (as per checklist).
- Cleaned as instructed (pool drained, dried, wiped with provided disinfectant).
- Free of damage, mould, or odours.
Deductions from the bond may apply for:
- Missing or damaged items – replacement charged at current retail cost.
- Improper cleaning or water damage – including mould, odours, or visible residue.
- Use without the liner – resulting in contamination of the pool.
- Late returns – charged at $50 per week unless an extension has been arranged in writing.
Damage & Repairs
- Minor damage that can be repaired (e.g. small puncture) may result in a partial deduction to cover repair costs, materials, and any reduction in equipment lifespan.
- Significant damage that renders the pool or equipment unsafe or unusable (e.g. multiple punctures, liner missing, mould, or misuse) will result in full bond retention and invoicing for full replacement cost at current retail value.
Overdue Returns
- If Hire Equipment is more than 2 weeks overdue (unless otherwise negotiated in writing), the full bond will be retained and the Hirer will be invoiced for the full replacement cost of the pool and equipment at current retail value.
General Wear & Tear vs Damage
- General wear and tear includes minor scuff marks, slight discolouration, or light signs of use that do not affect safety or function. These will not affect the bond refund.
- Damage includes punctures, mould, deep staining, missing parts, or misuse that compromises safety or function.
Cleaning Requirements
- All Hire Equipment must be cleaned in accordance with the instructions provided in the kit.
- The pool must be completely drained, dried, and wiped down with disinfectant wipes.
- It must be returned free of debris, hair (including pet hair), and odours.
- Failure to clean appropriately may result in a cleaning fee deducted from the bond.
Excess Costs
- If replacement or repair costs exceed the $150 bond, the Hirer will be invoiced for the difference.
4. Client Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring:
- The pool is used on a waterproof floor covering.
- The pool is filled using clean drinking water only.
- The single-use liner is used and fitted correctly.
- Children and pets are supervised around the pool.
You must not:
- Use the pool without the liner.
- Attempt to repair or modify the pool or equipment.
- Share or hire the pool to any third party.
5. Delivery, Collection & Return
- Delivery and collection may be arranged by separate agreement and quoted individually.
- If self-collecting, you are responsible for transport of all Hire Equipment.
- All equipment must be returned by the agreed date. Late returns may incur additional weekly hire fees.
Collection & Return Requirements
- The Hirer must contact us via text to arrange an exact collection time. Collection is by appointment only, as we must be present for handover.
- The collection address is not published on the website and will be provided via email in the booking confirmation.
- If the Hirer fails to attend the agreed collection without communication, and no collection occurs within 5 days, the booking will be considered a cancellation under Section 7.
- If we are unavailable on the preferred collection or return day, an earlier (for collection) or later (for return) date will be offered wherever possible.
- It is the Hirer’s responsibility to contact us to arrange both collection and return.
6. Liability
You acknowledge that water birth carries risks. We are not liable for:
- Any injury, incident, or damage arising from use of the Hire Equipment.
- Failure of the pool or accessories where instructions were not followed.
- The Hirer indemnifies and holds harmless Mother Mother Doula from any claims, damages, costs, or liabilities arising from the use or misuse of the Hire Equipment.
- By hiring, you accept full responsibility for safe and appropriate use of the pool.
7. Cancellation & Changes
- Cancellation more than 4 weeks before hire start date: Full refund of the hire fee & bond, minus a $50 administration charge.
- Cancellation 2–4 weeks before hire start date: 50% refund of the hire fee. The bond will be refunded in full.
- Cancellation within 2 weeks of hire start date/collection: The hire fee is non-refundable. The bond will be refunded in full. This policy is in place because bookings canceled at short notice are unlikely to be filled, resulting in lost revenue.
- Cancellation after collection: The hire fee is non-refundable. The bond will be refunded in full once equipment is returned, provided it is complete, clean, and undamaged.
- Non-Use of Equipment: No refund is available if the Hirer chooses not to use the Hire Equipment, if their chosen birth location does not permit its use, or if their birth unfolds differently to their expectations. No refund applies even if the kit has not been opened.
- Modifications / Extensions: Any request to change dates or extend the hire must be made in writing and approved by us. Extensions are subject to availability and may incur additional fees.
8. Equipment Checks
- All Hire Equipment is inspected and test-inflated by us prior to collection.
- The Hirer must conduct their own test inflation within 7 days of collection to confirm the pool is fit for use. Testing requires inflating the pool, leaving it for 4 hours, then deflating.
- Any issues identified must be reported within this 7-day window. If reported within this timeframe, a replacement or refund may be offered at our discretion.
- If faults or damage are reported after 7 days of collection, or during or after labour and birth, this will be considered wear and tear or damage under Section 3, and no refund will be provided.
9. Agreement
By booking and paying for a hire, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
