Every birth unfolds differently, and every mother experiences it in her own way.
This collection of birth stories has been written and shared by the mothers themselves, offering honest reflections on pregnancy, labour, birth, and the early hours of meeting their babies. These stories include homebirths, hospital births, fast labours, planned births, and births that unfolded differently than expected.
Birth stories matter. They help families prepare, feel less alone, and understand that there is no single “right” way for birth to happen. Reading real experiences can offer reassurance, perspective, and insight into the many ways birth can unfold.
All of the families featured here were supported by me as their birth doula and/or birth photographer across Perth, Rockingham and Mandurah. Each story remains entirely their own, written by the mothers and shared with permission to help other families feel informed, supported, and confident as they prepare for birth.
