What Is a Birth Sling?

A birth sling is a strong, fabric support that can be anchored securely to hold your weight during labour. It is designed to support upright and leaning positions, allowing freedom of movement while reducing strain on the body.

Hire options:

  • 4 weeks — $60

  • 5 weeks — $80

  • 6 weeks — $100

  • $50 refundable bond

Each hire includes fittings, storage bag, and instructions. Local Baldivis Collection only.

FAQs

Can I use a sling in hospital?
Yes, most hospitals allow the use of birth slings. All you need is a sturdy hinged door. We recommend checking with your care provider or hospital ahead of time if you’re unsure.

When should I collect my sling?
Hire from 37 weeks of pregnancy is recommended so you’re prepared if labour starts earlier than expected.

Is set-up complicated?
Not at all. Set-up is simple: hang the sling over a door, close the door securely, and it’s ready to use. Each hire also includes fittings and a storage bag for ease of use.

Birth Sling Hire T&C Overview

  • 4-week hire: $60 + $50 refundable bond

  • Includes sling, 2x arm slings, door anchor, beam/branch anchor, carry bag

  • Extra weeks: $20 per week (subject to availability)

  • Bond refunded within 5 business days of return (clean & complete)

  • Feet must stay grounded – not for swinging

  • Contraindications: ruptured membranes (unengaged), unstable BP, bedrest required

  • Lost, late, or damaged slings incur replacement/repair fees

  • By booking, you agree to the full Birth Sling Hire Terms & Conditions
