What’s the difference between the Obi and Elle TENS?

Both the Obi and Elle are labour TENS machines designed to provide natural, drug-free pain relief during labour, and both include a boost button to use during contractions.

The Obi is the simpler, more budget-friendly option, while the Elle is my more premium model. Both can be effective during labour, so the best option often comes down to personal preference and budget.

When should I book my TENS hire?

Most women choose to start their hire from around 37 weeks so the machine is ready before labour begins. If you are expecting your baby earlier, planning an induction, or simply want it organised ahead of time, you may prefer to book sooner.

Can I use the Obi TENS machine in hospital?

Yes. The Obi TENS machine can be used in a range of birth settings, including hospital birth, birth centre, and homebirth. It is portable, easy to bring with you, and can be used throughout labour as long as you are not in water.

Can I use it during an induction?

In many cases, yes. Some women choose to use a TENS machine during induction as part of their overall comfort plan. It can be a useful option alongside movement, breathwork, massage, and other support techniques.

Can I use it in the shower, bath, or birth pool?

No. TENS must not be used in water. The machine should be removed before entering the shower, bath, or birth pool, and can be reapplied afterwards if needed.

Can I use it after birth?

Some women choose to continue using TENS after birth for afterpains or postpartum cramping, including the cramping that can happen during breastfeeding.

Is it easy to use?

Yes. The Obi is designed to be simple and straightforward to use. Your hire includes quick start instructions as well as the full manufacturer guide, so you can familiarise yourself with it before labour starts.

Do I need to buy pads or batteries separately?

No. Your hire includes a brand new set of electrode pads and new batteries, so everything you need is provided.

Where do I collect it from?

Collection is from Baldivis. This makes it a convenient option for families in Rockingham, Mandurah, Baldivis, and surrounding areas.

How long can I hire it for?

You can choose from the following hire periods:

• 2 week hire (up to 14 days)
• 4 week hire (15 to 28 days)
• 6 week hire (29 to 42 days)

Hire begins on the agreed collection date and ends on the agreed return date selected at booking.

Is there a bond?

Yes. A $50 refundable bond applies to all TENS hires. This is refunded once the unit is returned on time and in good condition.

What if my baby comes earlier or later than expected?

That is exactly why many families choose to book their hire from around 37 weeks. If you think you may need a longer hire period, you can select a longer option at booking. If your circumstances change, get in touch as early as possible and I’ll do my best to help, depending on availability.
